On June 2th, the House passed, H.R. 4954, the "Medicare Modernization and Prescription Drug Act of 2002." The vote was 221 to 208 with 8 Democrats voting for the bill and 8 Republicans voting against. The physician Medicare payment update provisions were unchanged -- 6% increase over three years (2003-2005). Next our attention will turn to the Senate where it is expected that Democrats will try to move a Medicare bill to the floor sometime in July.  A special thanks to all those who responded to the ACC action alert issued on Tuesday.
